5. Maintenance : “I’m staying clean.” Maintaining sobriety. Avoiding triggers, building new habits.
6. Relapse : “I slipped…” Return to substance use. Part of the process. The key is to recover again.
7.Crisis/Rock Bottom : “I can’t live like this…” Emotional or physical collapse triggering change.

  1. If you’re going to put information out for the masses, please check for accuracy. There is no #4!!!! Did you mean to say 7 stages or did you forget one?

  2. I’m on # 7…. Like I rather live a normal peaceful life then try to be a better person on drugs. When you get to # 7 you just tired of hurting your family, your tired of of your life not going nowhere, losing jobs, being broke, sick of the feeling like damn everyone else i attract are doing great. My doctor said I he didn’t think I was the type after telling him on methadone. I mean I gotta find my value bc to many see so much in me but I see nothing but I have to build and focus on me. Idc about the sweats and whatever. Drugs are becoming your friend you don’t like so you just wake up and say bye I’ll miss you though.

  3. I’m almost one year clean. And I’m struggling hard to not be at step 6 again (several times) it always ends bad. And this feels like the worse night of my life. And it shouldn’t be. My life is not bad at the moment. No logical reason to be feeling what I’m feeling. But this is where I am at this moment
