The good news? 👇
If you’re not 100% comfortable with your vet’s recommendation, you can ask questions *and* get a second vet opinion👇

TO SUMMARIZE my thoughts:
Based on what vets have told me over the past decade of interviewing them, i believe the main reasons many (not all) vets recommend brands with questionable ingredients (like RC, Purina or Hills etc) BECAUSE:
✔️ It’s what they learned in school
✔️ Many are more focused on managing the disease/outcomes & not as focused on ingredients
✔️ The big brands like Royal Canin, owned by Mars candy company, have research on their food- vets are trained to follow science. Just note potential limitations (short length, bias, etc) on studies & understand that other brands are coming out with studies too… just takes longer without funding by massive corporations… I cant WAIT to have this conversation in 5-10 years 😏
✔️ Some care more more about “nutrients” than “ingredients”- meaning, as long as the protein % meets the minimum requirements, then it doesn’t matter if the protein comes from corn or peas – instead of meat
✔️ The prescription lines have shown to help dogs in some cases, for the short term (example dogs with pancreatitis or kidney issues). Which is why I always say I’m not against prescription lines – but for MY dogs – if nothing else worked & I *had* to use a prescription line, I’d only work with a vet who helped me use it for *limited* time while finding solutions with better ingredients.
Net: why can’t it be both? Why does it have to be “OR” ? For my pets, it’s always “AND”
Your dog deserves the right nutrients AND real, whole food ingredients. Period 💯
With all the science & research in these big brands, WHY can’t they make foods that meet nutrient needs WITH (primarily) Whole Foods?
Science says we can, so why don’t they? THIS IS MY MAIN ISSUE… the foods (eg Purina/RC) are $$$$$$ *and* often made with lots of corn, rice, soy, peas, wheats etc
All this to say, I share my content to help YOH make informed decisions with your vet AND to push brands to do better 🤝

I absolutely LOVE when these online so-called influencers who claim they’re a Pet Nutritionist (from a 30 minute online course to get a fake degree) try to make any health claims about scientific pet foods 😆
Don’t listen to this woman. She’s NOT a board certified pet nutritionist nor is she credible in any way to be given scientific nutritional advise lol
She doesn’t own a lab. She’s not a scientist. She has NO IDEA how nutrients actually work. She’s just considered an “ingredientist” who only looks for what ingredients are in the pet food and NOT the actual nutrients.
Sorry but the “big 3 meanie” major pet food companies know a WHOLE LOT more than this woman does! They have actual board certified pet nutritionist on staff, scientists and veterinariana who all collaborate to better pet health!
They study the NUTRIENTS and how they scientifically benefit or harm’s our pets. They perform certified feeding trials. They post their data, findings and lab results all over the world in peer-2-peer studies showing what works and what doesn’t.
This woman only cares about the pretty label and knows nothing about actual pet nutrients.
Don’t listen to her. She knows nothing and will actually possibly end up harming your pets!
Trust science, not this fool!
Then, your main problem is you’re listening to the vets. Veterinarians are taught not to think outside the box. They were top by schools that are running by pharmaceutical drug companies.Just like our doctors. So your first problem is, don’t listen to em.Only bring your animal to a vet.If it’s got an injury
COMMERCIAL “PET FOOD” IS TOXIC! PERIOD!
Fresh meat is honestly the way to go. Heck my dog ate raw hamburger by getting into it himself. Nothing happened but a happy dog and the runs later for me to pick up from something new in his diet.
